In light of most everyone working from home, we are going to hold our first Virtual ILG meeting Friday morning, May 8, 2020. A Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants prior to the meeting.  

OFCCP’s new Ombuds Service was established to facilitate the fair and equitable resolution of external stakeholder concerns, including matters raised by federal contractors and contractor representatives, by working with district and regional offices as a conflict resolution liaison. OFCCP Ombudsman Marcus Stergio joins our May meeting to discuss the recent launch of his Ombuds Service, update attendees on his office’s responsibilities, discuss the types of matters the new Ombuds Service is and will be focusing on, and offer his thoughts on when, where, and how external stakeholders can bring their OFCCP-related concerns to his attention. Marcus will allow time for a brief question and answer session to make sure there is a mutual understanding of his role and how he might be helpful.

Marcus Stergio serves as the Ombudsman for the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP). Spearheading the agency’s Ombuds Service, Mr. Stergio is a neutral and confidential resource available to all OFCCP stakeholders nationwide, including federal contractors and subcontractors, contractor representatives, industry groups, law firms, complainants, worker rights organizations, and current and potential employees of federal contractors and subcontractors.

Given the agency’s mission to protect workers, promote diversity, and enforce civil rights laws, Mr. Stergio addresses concerns related to OFCCP policies and practices and serves as an informal facilitator of disputes. Mr. Stergio operates independent of other agency divisions, allowing him the autonomy to advocate for transparency, fair processes, and efficient operations as they relate to and include relevant constituents.
